running with scissors

i will keep this post short and to the point.

sweet cheeks and her cousin cut their own hair sunday night at our house while they were supposedly playing upstairs. my one-lengthed hair girl gave herself bangs. my niece gave herself a layer of even shorter bangs.

i was a bit shocked. i think the husband and sister-in-law were a bit shocked. but why? don't all girls cut their own hair at some point in their life? pretty sure they do. i did. and i guess sweet cheek's time was now. i'm just thankful it wasn't really that bad of a cut.

i asked her to next time just tell me when she wants a haircut and i will gladly take her for one.

i took her last night to snip-its to get it cleaned up and evened out. i will try to share pics of her new do soon!

friday night with a carnie

so once a year our little town hosts a very fun (and a bit odd) carnival. we look forward to it every year. each year is more fun than the year before. sweet cheeks gets taller and taller, the carnie workers get crazier and crazier, and the rides get louder and louder. all of which makes for a fun family time. we were there both friday and saturday night. thankfully the husband was willing to ride most of the rides with sweet cheeks. they are so much more adventurous than me ( most people are- who am i kidding!). specifically, i am so happy to not have had to ride the ferris wheel. oh how i hate heights. especially when the heights involve a scary, rusty, squeaky traveling ride! no thanks.

we went to the carnival friday night with two sets of friends of ours. i think sweet cheeks also enjoyed having the kids to ride with. i love that she has so many buddies. they are always so sweet to watch together.

here are the kids on the first ride of the night. it was a huge teddy bear that spins around and around. how cute are the 5 of them all together in there.

this is my action shot of sweet cheeks on this spinning swing ride. i even rode it with her. made me a bit nauseous. thankfully we had dinner after this ride, not before.
sweet cheeks and her friend, rebecca, dancing. there is always time for busting moves at the carnival.
licking her sticky cotton candy fingers.
bumper cars. sweet cheeks is a crazy driver. pretty much all of the 5 year old drivers were.
sweet picture despite the poor quality. we stayed out friday night till 10:30pm! they probably could have gone longer!

i have mentioned it a time or two how sweet cheeks tries to dress like me. she is always putting on my glasses. so the other day on one of our many weekend trips to claire's, i saw these fake glasses. sweet cheeks hasn't taken them off since. she is adorable in them. just look at her!

when did she turn fiveteen???

in between the lines

i have a new favorite shirt. it's a 3/4 sleeve tee from target. i love the gray and white stripes. can't be the price either, $14.99.

i am tempted to go back and buy it in blue as well.

oh target... how i love thee!

can we ride

we spent last weekend up at my parents house. all of the family was there to have a farewell dinner for my little brother, who left for the army on monday (yeah, i said army. i still can't believe it myself). it was such a fun time being with my parents, brothers, and sister. i know sweet cheeks had so much fun playing outside the entire time with all of her cousins. thankfully the weather was beautiful.

seriously, you could never know the amount of joy that this tractor gives to the kids. they rode on it for so long! thankfully my niece is old enough to drive the younger kids around while we sat, watched, and enjoyed the moment.

my brother even got in on the fun

they were all singing taylor swift songs

(look at those girls rockin' the glasses!)

all she wants to do is ride

sweet cheeks and the husband rode her dirt bike yesterday. of course i worry about her on it. how can i not. she is my fragile, little girl. well, fragile in my eyes. but that aside, it was adorable. it was the sweetest thing to see the huge smile on her face from the excitement of riding with her daddy on the dirt bike. i loved watching the two of them together.

sweet cheeks could initially tell i was nervous about it. without hesitation, she quickly told me that i "better get used to it because dad and i like it." nice. how easily she puts me in my place.

and the girl in me gladly admits that like sweet cheeks i love her dirt bike wardrobe! oh her boots, her gloves, her riding shirt, helmet and goggles! she rocks them all.

sweet cheeks waiting for her daddy to get her

about to ride

apparently, by the looks of her, riding is exhausting!
